2015-16 SGA Elections: Edwin Medina, Candidate for President

By Edwin Medina, Candidate for SGA President

SGA.2015.Edwin MedinaI want to be Student Government President not for the title but for the responsibilities. I have been part of SGA for four semesters now. I went from being a senator to Activities Chair to SGA Treasurer. During that time I managed to develop myself into a leader that helped provide other students with the necessary tools to succeed at Wright College. Whether those tools were educational or student engagement pieces, I helped cultivate that culture with the help of my team.

Many students run with the intent of having the benefits of being a Student Government executive member. I want to continue to push forward with the accomplishments the current SGA team has achieved. Some of these achievements were getting more open weight room hours, addressing the prices of the cafeteria, and getting more furniture for students. At the top of these concerns was Akademos and we made sure our students were heard.

As the SGA Treasurer I made sure every penny was spent for the students’ benefits. This included events that provided students with opportunities to learn more about four-year institutions and engaging students in events where the school is their second home.

The Student Government executive board needs to be filled by the best candidates. With the help of SGA I polished my leadership skills to be President. I also have a history of helping out in my community with issues that deal with education, healthcare, youth rights, immigration, and affordable housing.
