AQIP Portfolio & Title III Proposal Submitted Between Semesters
A message from Wilbur Wright President David Potash…
While the majority of our students may be taking a break from classes, our faculty and staff have been hard at work beating end of May deadlines for two critical submissions that should benefit our college in the semesters and years to come – the AQIP Systems Portfolio and a Department of Education Title III Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI)/STEM grant proposal. These documents demanded tireless cooperation across the entire college and demonstrate our collective commitment to ensuring that Wright remains the best place it can be for our wonderful students.
The AQIP Systems Portfolio was sent out this past week to the Higher Learning Commission, and can be read online here. The portfolio provides an honest and positive assessment of Wright. Drafting and compiling the final document required thousands of hours of work from across the entire college. The result is a thoughtful compendium of the strides we have made as an institution. It shows that we are in good shape for the future, while also identifying areas for potential improvement. Please join me in giving everyone who spent time and effort on the portfolio a massive thank you.
Capping a very productive week, Wright College also submitted a Title III HSI/STEM grant proposal to the Department of Education ahead of another May 31st deadline. The five-year and $5 million dollar proposal seeks support for Hispanic students in STEM, especially in information technology. This continues an ongoing commitment to IT education that was recently bolstered through our College to Careers program. Northeastern Illinois University, the number one transfer destination of Wright students, also joined this effort to foster successful STEM student transitions to four-year institutions. A talented and dedicated team worked on the proposal, so let’s give them our collective thanks too and keep our fingers crossed.
With gratitude and appreciation –
