CCC Announces New Maternity/Parental Leave Policy
Last week, the City Colleges of Chicago Board of Trustees approved a new maternity/parental leave policy for full-time non-bargained for employees and administrators who are eligible under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
The new policy, which is effective immediately, provides:
- up to four weeks paid maternity leave to a birth mother for a non-surgical delivery.
- up to six weeks paid maternity leave to a birth mother to recover from a C-section delivery.
- up to two weeks paid parental leave for the birth of a child for a spouse or domestic partner of birth mother.
- up to two weeks paid parental leave for the adoption of a child by the employee of spouse/domestic partner of the employee.
Employees may also combine other earned paid time off (e.g., vacation or personal days) with maternity/parental leave time to take leave through FMLA. Eligible employees must submit paperwork requesting FMLA leave to the Benefits Department at least 30 days prior to the date of leave.
