Congrats Yaryna Khlibovych and Leopoldo Gomez – 2016 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Recipients
We celebrated two of our students on Wednesday morning, October 12th, in the President’s Conference Room. Yaryna Khlibovych and Leopoldo Gomez are winners of the 2016 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship. This scholarship provides new Phi Theta Kappa members with financial resources to help defray educational expenses while enrolled in a two-year college while also encouraging participation in Society programs. This year’s recipients were selected by a panel of independent judges from more than 1,100 applicants. Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars are selected based on outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated leadership potential.
Both Yaryna and Leopoldo are grateful for PTK and the support of faculty advisor Jeannette Bruno, as well as transfer support from Susan Calabrese. Yaryna plans to major in accounting. She will be applying to UIC, UIUC, Loyola and DePaul University. Her first choice is UIUC. She also is a member of the UIC Guaranteed Admissions Transfer program – and she is currently working in Human Resources. Yaryna thanks her teachers, her advisor, Alejandro Herrera, and the team at Humboldt Park. Leopoldo is a member of the UIC Guaranteed Admissions Transfer program and plans to major in computer science/software engineering at UIC. He is grateful for his advisor, Malgorzata Haptas, his professors, and is particularly grateful for Rosamma Joseph.
We, in turn, are grateful for them – their hard work, good cheer, and success. Please join me in wishing them well.
With all best wishes,
David
