Get to Know . . . Information Technology Director Anthony Gamboa
Anthony Gamboa recently joined Wright College as Director of Information Technology (IT). In this role, he is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and managing computer systems and operations, as well as supporting the overall technology needs of the college. Anthony most recently served as IT Manager at Truman College.
Anthony has been interested in computers and programming since he was 12 years old. He studied computer science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. At the same time, he held a part-time job at the Technology Learning Center at Truman College.
As Wright is the Information Technology hub for City Colleges of Chicago’s College to Careers (C2C) initiative, Anthony looks forward to collaborating with C2C faculty, staff and students, supporting their technology needs, and providing a better learning environment and experience.
Originally from Lima, Peru, Anthony currently lives in Jefferson Park. He enjoys spending time with family and traveling. He is also an avid player and fan of soccer, the sport he grew up with. “I play on the weekends to keep the rhythm and stay in shape,” he says. To keep his programming skills sharp, Anthony spends time creating Windows and mobile applications.
Anthony’s favorite aspect of working in IT is delivering useful services to his “customers”: Wright’s students, faculty and staff. “I love helping people and connecting technology to their needs,” Anthony says.
