Get to know…Wright College’s Writing Center!
The Writing Center at Wright College provides free, one-on-one tutoring for anyone who needs help with writing. Our tutors can help writers at any stage of the writing process: from brainstorming and drafting to revising and polishing. Our services are available not only to Wright College students and employees, but to the general public as well. Most of our tutors are Wright College instructors who hold at least a master’s degree and who teach a range of subjects from English and humanities to biology and psychology.
Anyone can visit the Writing Center to work on any writing project. Students with good grades often visit the Center to continue to work on their skills and develop new ideas. Some simply brainstorm with tutors; others work on resumes and college applications. Our tutors are prepared to work with students in any course, and students may request a tutor in a particular discipline.
Tutors and students often work together on the following: brainstorming, understanding assignments, creating thesis statements, writing creatively, organizing, and outlining. Tutors can also help with grammar, syntax, style, ESL issues, editing techniques, and MLA and APA citations.
The Writing Center is located inside of the Learning Resource Center in room L213 and is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
