Welcome Jim Howley – Wright College’s New Dean of Instruction

On Monday May 2, 2016, Jim Howley will be joining the Wright College administration as its new Dean of Instruction. Jim has taught and served in Illinois as an administrator in public higher education for more than 20 years, most recently as Director of Interdisciplinary Studies and Student Academic Affairs at Governors State University. While at GSU, Jim has been active in strategic planning, budgeting, accreditation processes, and academic program review. He has also served in other capacities, including six years as Chair of the Liberal Arts division.

Jim possesses both a PhD in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a strong commitment to social justice. He maintains a strong focus on students receiving a number of awards because of this commitment including the Latino Center for Excellence Leadership Award, the Leroy Morrison Civil Service Senate Outstanding Achievement Award, and the Student Success Program Distinguished Service Award.

Jim is a south side native and an unapologetic White Sox fan, but he has been known to cheer for the Cubs… on occasion. Please join us in welcoming him to Wright Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Office of Instruction, Room A-113.
