Wright College IT Students Selected by Cisco Networking Academy to Work at NBA Draft Combine in Chicago
Five students from Wright College, along with two Wright faculty members, have been selected by the Cisco Networking Academy to perform information technology (IT) work at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago (May 11 – 14). Cisco is an IT partner in City Colleges’ College to Careers initiative.
Participating Wright students are: Andre Adriano, LokSum Lo, David Reyes, Danielle Riesche and Jelena Zunic. Faculty members Timothy Jansen and Lambros Piskopos are accompanying and working with the students.
As part of their work, the students are assisting NBA IT staff with deploying Cisco access points and switches, providing first level on-site troubleshooting assistance, and dismantling equipment at the end of events, among other responsibilities.
“Working at the NBA Draft Combine is a valuable opportunity for our students to gain hands-on IT experience in a unique, exciting venue,” said Bonnie Kang, Dean of Wright’s College to Careers program in Information Technology. “These types of real-world experiences are representative of the ways City Colleges is working with partners like Cisco to prepare students to work in high-demand, fast-growing industries like IT.”
