Wright College Veterans Club & Staff Participate in Ruck March

The Wright College Veterans Club and staff kicked-off Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 26, by joining the 4th Annual Ruck March. Hosted by Chicago Veterans, this march consisted of a 20 mile ruck with a 20 pound pack to raise awareness about the 20 veterans who commit suicide every day. Over 1,500 people, consisting of veterans, active duty service members, aldermen, friends, and family, marched from Glencoe to North Avenue Beach.

THE Veterans Club had a strong showing of support in their second year of participation and were joined by Veterans Services Specialist Bryan Soske, President Potash, and College Advisors Oscar Nunez, Joanna Diaz, Joseph Kim, and Chris Alexander. THE Veterans Club had over 25 student vets, past and present, ruck for this great cause. At registration and the 8-mile mark, Wright College veteran graduate and founder of 606 Coffee Roasters, Alberto Boleres, gave out samples of his coffee to fuel the ruckers for the day’s journey.
